Alone

lonely cloud, Originally uploaded byMadmàT

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were - I have not seen
As others saw - I could not bring
My passions from a common spring -
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow - I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone -
And all I loved - I loved alone -
Then - in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life - was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still -
From the torrent, or the fountain -
From the red cliff of the mountain -
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold -
From the lightning in the sky
As it pass'd me flying by -
From the thunder and the storm -
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view. -

Bacon & Cheddar

I'll be making these soon. Jay mentioned something like this last night while watching War Games. Not sure what the connection was - maybe it was a Burger King commercial. So, I found this recipe on Tastespotting. I'd like to skip the scallions and maple glaze the bacon. yum.

Brother's Wedding

Dresses

I'm never quite sure what to wear to weddings. This one is a little bit more challenging - I need to find something I can nurse in and look good enough for the family wedding portraits.

I'm out of time to order something online. Here's what I like so far. Oh, help.....

Translation

What we really need is a new dining set for the breakfast area. The beautiful set in the previous post is way out of our budget. This might work -

Our House

Our new house is in serious need for some decorating. These images are inspiring. Looks like I tend towards the austere.

Belly Picture Series

I love this series of belly photos - especially the notes. As I read them I am reminded of each week with Oliver and it is so familiar. Such a universal experience...

Eating Insects

We've been watching extreme dining shows like Bizarre Foods and Extreme Cuisine. There really is something fascinating about watching someone eat the grossest thing imaginable and then describe the experience.

This pretty packaging actually made me want to try some of those toasted ants.

Chomping Green Dinosaur

I've pretty much lost the desire to shop for myself - buying clothes for Oliver is much more fun. Though, is it wierd that I'd love to have one of these too so Oliver and I could match?

Insecurity

I've had plenty of experience with feeling insecure.

I read this and got that "aha" feeling. I wish I would have understood this when I was much younger:

"That feeling you get when someone teases you is called insecurity, and it is directly caused by the insecurity of the one trying to hurt you. Like water, insecurity seeks itself to find the quickest path downhill. You can try to dam it up or divert it but it is part of life. Just try not to drown in it, or drown any others."
